A Year In Review

Ok, so I am the worst at blogging. I really thought I would be better at this, but I'm not!

So in this post I am going to try to catch up on our little pups first year! What a ride this has been! He was born on March 2, 2011 at 3:16 am; weighing in at 6 lbs 11 oz and was 19 inches long. He was technically born 2 weeks early, his due date was March 15th. The day I went into labor was kinda crazy. I felt my water break at 6 am but really wasn't in a panic since I had just read the night before that you can have up to 24 hours before the baby would come. So, since my husband had to move from one storage unit to another that day, I really didn't rush us going to the hospital. Plus, I had things to do, no seriously, I did. I had to do laundry for Drake and take my Mom to Target. However, about 11 am my water REALLY broke and I knew I should probably get my hubby moving! So I called him and let him know what was going on. Then off to Target I went with my mom. That's when the contractions started. Imagine me in the middle of the store having to stop every few minutes to let them pass! Finally I was able to complete my errands, get my laundry and head home to meet up with the Dawg and head to my Dr. Appt. Oh, did I forget to mention that I had one and that I went, yep, I did. You can their surprise and they immediately sent me to the hospital. I got there about 3:30 pm, serious labor started about 4:30 pm, epidural came about 8:30 pm and Drake arrived at 3:16 am. It was quite the ordeal. He had the cord wrapped around his neck twice and once it was removed he was taken down to the NICU for 4 days (3 days of observation and 1 for jaundice). And then we brought him home!

He was the best newborn ever! Only cried when he was hungry or tired, still does! He never really cried for a diaper change, which I found interesting. He started to sleep through the night at about 5 months, stopped breastfeeding between 6 and 7 months, started drinking from a sippy cup at 6 months, started crawling and saying Dada and Mama at 7 months, started walking at 10 months, and started saying bye-bye, done, Gouda, and ball at 11 months. He makes the cutest facial expressions! His surprised look is over-the-top and oh so funny! He raises his eyebrows when he questions something and his super observant! And boy does he love to scream. I mean like, SCREAM!! He is sooooo loud! He loves to chase Gouda around and has learned escape through the crack in the door we leave open for Gouda, even though the door is chained! Smart kid! He is growing up way too fast! We love him more then anything before!!

Will there be another one...we'll see!!!!

Starting Over!

So, today I have finally decided it was time to start up this blog again. Reason being is that I wanted to to talk about our little man. He has finally grown out of his bassinet. Actually, he should have been out about a month ago, but he hasn't hit 15 pounds yet so I wasn't too worried. However, I knew the time would come so I made up his crib and in he went. His first night in his big bed and he looks so small!! It kinda reminds me of when we first brought him home and I placed him in is bassinet. Sigh... He is growing up so fast!!! He has changed so much from that first day. I remember how small he was when I first saw him in the NICU. He was so small then and now just when everyone tells me how big he has gotten, he looks so small again. He has brought such a wonderful joy and love into our home. We are so truly blessed to have our son! Now how will it be when he moves to his toddler bed!!!

This Christmas

So, this year was the first for Maddawg and I as husband and wife. It was wonderful! I will admit that for the most part, I really didn't get into the "Christmas spirit" We didn't even get a tree until the Monday before and didn't "decorate" it until Christmas Eve and then it was mostly Maddawg. It turned out to be a great Christmas though. I'll never forget out 1st!

With all that has gone on this year, I didn't think to get presents either. Then again I wanted this year to be less focused on material presents and to really focus on just being able to be with family. I was really happy to have my brother here with us this year. He has been in Montana for the last several and will be there again next year, so it was great to have him here. So..with that, I didn't think to get my husband a gift until Christmas Eve! We hadn't really talked about it so I figured we weren't doing them. That was until he told me he had already gotten mine! Oh no!! So off I went and secured the gift he wanted. It was a great morning of just he and I opening our small amount of gifts. Then it was off to my Moms to hang out with her and my brother. Then off to the his parents house for dinner and a Christmas FHE.

It was a great first Christmas! Next year we hope to have added to our little family and receive the best gift of all!!

The joys of being married

Now, there are a ton of things that make being married WONDERFUL! A husband that makes me lunch and tucks in little love notes to bring a smile to my day. When he's cleaned up the house before I get home from long and usually uneventful day at work. When he goes out to get chinese food and knows exactly what to get me. Doing laundry together or just hanging out on the couch. Marriage is great!!!

but sometimes....

When he gives me his cold...marriage isn't all it cracked up to be. Do we really need to share everything? I mean, I love him, but man...really?!
